HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA!!

I posted this Thursday, knowing full well Friday the 26th of October is your actual birthday, but I didn't know if Friday would afford me the time to make this post that today did (Sadie is taking a nice long nap right now, who knows about tomorrow...).

We are just too far away from you, I wish we could be there for your birthday. Instead we are sending you a little message across the internet. That is the next best thing, right??

Way WAY back in 1935 when you were born...

A postage stamp for a letter was just 3 cents
, a loaf of bread was 8 cents, and a gallon of gas was a steep dime. Today, on your seventy-somethingth birthday (who is really counting here?) a stamp is $0 .41 cents (hence the internet post), I think I just bought a loaf of bread yesterday for about $2.50, and I just filled up my tank here in Virginia for $2.74 a gallon--ouch! Also, of worthy note, 1935 was the year that the game Monopoly came out.

You have done great things with your time! Your seventy-two years has brought 4 wonderful children, 1 daughter-in-law and 3 sons-in-law, 8 grandchildren, with one more on the way (in about 8 weeks--yikes!), plus 2 step-grandchildren, in addition to your first step-GRANDchild. Let's not forget your five grand-doggies. That is a lot of people! I Think I am safe in speaking for us all when I tell you how much we all love you, and how we are all so honored to be a part of the wonderful family tree you and mom started. Happy birthday, Dad!

Oh, by the way, this is what Sadie said when I told her how old her Grandpa was while I was giving her a bath...

We miss you SO SO much! Eat an extra piece of cake for us, (two for me) and know that we are thinking of you! Love, Erin, Joe, Sadie, Boy and Muloki.
