Sadie Says

We have rough nights at this house. Sadie wakes up at least ONCE a night screaming as loud and as forceful and she can.

4 am this morning we hear her, "I WANT A SANDWICH! I WANT A SANDWICH!!" through frustrated tears. I wasn't funny at the time, but now that I am thinking about it, that is a pretty funny thing to cry out at night. I guess she was hungry.

Right now she also has some pretty funny sayings,

  • "What happened mama? Whatsamatter?"
  • "Daddy is holding mama's hand. How sweet."
  • "I'll be riiiiiiighhhht back... K?"
  • "I awake, mama! I don't wanna sleep n-e-more."
  • "ALLLRIGGHHT! Lets go!"
  • "How lucky!"
  • "Big hugs!" (with arms spread)
She also treats everything like a baby, especially if she doesn't want to put it down, or isn't supposed to hold it. I mean everything. Here is a short list of items she will rock or bounce to sleep:

  • spatulas
  • mom's make-up, perfume, lotion, and contact case
  • rocks
  • shirts
  • toy iguana
  • soap
  • sticks
  • and baby dolls...sometimes

She also pretends to cook, cookies mostly. I eat pretend cookies all day. She will offer one to me, I will take it, then she will take it back and blow on it for me, then give it back to me to eat, and in a patronizing voice with squinted eyes say "better?"

Joe Joe has had the misfortune of breaking three teeth on top at the same time, then acquired a stomach bug. Rough weekend. His fever broke today. He also had his 9 month shots a week ago today, so I plan on doing my update on his stats soon. I can tell you this: he is in the 5th percentile for his weight, and we may be looking at more specialists if he doesn't start eating better, and climbing back up.

Hold tight folks, pictures are coming.

Holy cow! Your girl is a talking machine! I can't believe she can say all that. I want a sandwich in the middle of the night a lot too! Nursing makes me starving!

Her vocabulary constantly blows me away. And her creativity, and her acute observations of grown up behavior (like blowing on your cookie for you). I was thinking about it the other day as I was chowing down on some dinner in the living room watching TV with a little scavenger hovering over my plate. There are a lot of behaviors I am going to have to give up (like eating in the living room) and words I am going to have to stop saying (CRAP specifically) because I have a constant set of eyes watching every move, just waiting for the day that he can do just exactly what he sees me doing.
