The long awaiting and much anticipated Christmas Morning. The night before, Sadie set out a plate with cookies, milk and tomatoes for Santa (hey, Sadie though he might get all sugared out, I guess), and a carrot for the reindeer. Upon eating a healthy snack after dropping the loot and gearing up for the next house, Santa left the plate and a note on the landing between flights of stairs in our house.
Joe and I woke up early Christmas morning (I was a bundle of raw nerves all night, as excited as my three-year-old who didn't go to bed until midnight), and were chatting in bed, when we heard the clank of the plate. We both leapt from the bed and ran to try and stop Sadie before she could get to the gifts with out the camera rolling, and me in a place where I could soak up the happiness of my children.
"WAIT SADIE! WE HAVE TO GET DRESSED BEFORE WE CAN GO DOWN!" We tried to reason.
"But mom, we has to see if Santa brought us presents!" Can't argue with that. This is the first year that Sadie has grasped Santa, and it couldn't have been more thrilling as a parent to watch the wonder.
Sadie scored this doll house from Santa, who must have worked pretty hard building the thing by hand and painting it just for her. I had saved furniture I had made as a child, and it is what fills the rooms, her gift from mom and dad. If you look close at Joe Joe's face, I think I may have actually caught the second he turned and saw what good little boys get from Santa...
A train table and set. He didn't care much for anything else. BUT he did find a good use for the other presents... oh good, a seat. He could get to his trains a little easier.
Looking down from the steps Christmas morning.
Joe Joe never did open anything else. Sadie opened her gifts, and then her brother's.
The next morning, Sadie crept into our room, and told us she heard Santa's sleigh--AGAIN!!
Sorry kiddo, only comes once a year.

What an awesome Christmas.
And I STILL can't see where Sadie cut her hair!! It's killing me. Can't you tell?
