I have been involved in countless "businesses" as a child. My best friend and I spend many hours making and posting flyers trying to make money. OF COURSE we had the standard babysitting circuit and lemon-aid stand in our neighborhood, but then there were the rather unusual entrepreneurial plights:
pet sitting
raking leaves
shoveling snow
cleaning houses
personal shoppers
One of the "oddest" had to be the aerobic class we held in my basement. Parents actually gave us money to do aerobics with their children. Go figure. We used the soundtrack to "The Lion King" and did a whole workout. To top it off (and looking back it just reaffirms our lack of knowledge on the subject of health) when it was finished, we served refreshments of kool-aid and gummy worms. The way I see it, we were either:
A. Really cute and people just couldn't say "no"
B. THAT convincing
C. Better than I give us credit for now
D. Really pathetic and people just couldn't say "no"
Though I am rather partial to believe A. Here is where I get to the point: I have ventured into another business. It is rather unconventional, I admit, I can file it with the latter list of money making markets to whit I have been involved. Here goes, Introducing...
SugarStone Design. A unique place to find all things coasters. Yes, you heard me. Personalized coasters. I have tumbled marble coasters, and am working on disposable ones that I have not posted yet. Put names, dates, quotes, images, you name it on them. Great original gifts weddings or disposable place settings at a baby shower.
I know you are grinning. Some things never change.

WOO HOO! Go Erin! I've told Jeff how Mindy and I tried things like a very reasonable recycling business, and so forth, but all of our ventures failed. But somehow you and Heidi convinced parents of toddlers to come over to our basement for a "kids aerobics" class. I remember you even telling someone that it was all "low impact" as if you knew what it meant. And people came!!! Go sugarstone!
Erin, I am seriously impressed. Seriously. This is so great that you have everything up and running. Website looks great, coasters look great. Way to go!!!
