So there I was in my office working away when my colleague tells me to grab the office camera because Ken Griffey Jr. is visiting the office. I sat there dumbfounded...you see Ken Griffey Jr. was a childhood hero of mine. He lived on a poster on my wall right next to Michael Jordan. How could he be coming to my office? Sure enough, I look down the hall and here comes "JR". After he met with the people he needed to meet with I caught him on the way out. The exchange went something like this. Joe - "Hi, Mr. Jr, I am a big fan" (yes, I called him Mr. Jr...I was starstruck, what can I say...you simply can't plan for moments like this) Ken - "Hi, how are you?" Joe - "Good, I bet you guys are a little tired after meeting with all these people (3rd meeting of the day, entire family was with him)" Ken - Nah, this is nothing...normally I would be getting ready for the 5th inning about now". I then gave his son Hi-five and said, "what's up little man?" He gave me five and gave me a wierd look...like...who is this guy? As everyone started filing out of the office, I quickly grabbed "Mr. Jr." and asked if I could get a picture with him. And there you have it...my akward conversation with my child hood idol. I wanted to tell him how much he meant to baseball and how much I appreciated him and the fun style he brought to baseball...how I had a poster of him growing up and that I wish he still played for the Seattle Mariners...Instead...Akwardness.
KEN GRIFFEY JR. ROCKS!!!!! This was the poster in my room...no joke.
