The Results Are In!

Little Joe weighed in at his two month appointment. The stats are as follows (in case you can't read the shirt):
Length: 24 1/4 inches
Weight: 11 pounds 6 ounces
Head Circumference: 16 1/4 inches

Not bad! I was worried that my sons would be as petite as my daughter--When she was two months old, her stats were:
Length: 22.6 inches
Weight: 10 pounds 12.5 ounces
Head Circumference: 15.2 inches

I did not want to take him to get those shots. He was up to get two shots in each thigh, and one oral medicine.
I sat in the waiting room, eyeing the door, knowing that I could bolt and avoid the tears, and I don't just mean his. At least I had remembered to wear water proof mascara. So happy and smiley, he had no clue what was going to happen in just a few minutes...

With the first stick, he screamed and with a little furrowed face and mouth turned down the same way mine does when my feelings are hurt, turned to looked at me, "Why are you letting them do this to me? You could stop it!"
Needle number two, a new level of scream emerged, along with a kick that caused the needed to come out, and the nurse to squirt the medicine on his red leg. Stick again, and still two more to go.

Five stabs and one liquid vaccine (which he choked on) later, we were done. I just held him and we cried.
He did break out into a fever that night, and part of the next day, but all in all he did great. He could have been so mad at me for actually holding him down (after the leg incident) and allowing someone else to hut him, but he just smiled at me when he woke from his nap. I think that may have humbled me (and broke my heart) more than anything. I can see why we are counseled to be like little children.

Looking back at this post, I have to laugh, because his diaper looks fully loaded. Guess I should have changed it before I took the pictures.

Ha ha ha - your sad post made me want to leave a sympathetic comment, then I saw your comment. That is too funny. A full diaper - now that is real life, so it is not such a bad thing in the picture if you want a truly accurate record of babyhood.
