The Jefferson Memorial. I had never seen it, and it didn't disappoint. We walked all the way around the pond, in the beautiful 70 degree weather, pushing the kids as they slept, and just having conversation.

Sadie fell asleep first, she was pretty tired. Joe Joe was unwilling to succumb to slumber, and fought laying down. Even when Joe tried to lay him down, he resisted and pushed himself up while his eyes were closed. I guess he didn't want to miss anything. He finally did lay down.

This is supposed to be the Reflection Pool, the Washington Monument, then back behind the monument, the Capitol. The pool is drained, and there is talk of filling it in and making it some sort of demonstration arena. I hope not. It is so too historic and impressive when it is full of water.

I loved watching all the people take turns standing in front of monuments and forcing smiles and cheesy poses. Case in point. The Witters' turn.
